Oilseed highly appreciated by canaries due to its pleasant flavour, seed rich in fat with a certain exciting effect, favors bowel movements and gives shine to feathers. Birds tend to gain weight with it, so it should be given sparingly. It is an appetizing dish for small species of parrots, usually rejected by larger species of psittacines. They are accepted without hesitation by the nymphs, the Pionopsitta (red-mantled parrots) and in general by the small parrots. Birds of the genus carduelis and canaries are very fond of them.
