The filter is easily attached to the aquarium with suction cups. The special thing about the pickup concept is that you can easily remove the filter container with the sponge from above, while the pump unit stays inside the aquarium. That comes in handy when you clean or change the filter cartridge.

The pump draws the water from below and guides it through the filter sponge upwards. The clean water then returns to the aquarium through the rotating outlet nozzle.
